Food
Allergies
Food
allergies show the characteristic symptoms of itching
and skin problems associated with dog allergies. According
to most vets we have spoken with some ingredients
are more likely to cause food allergies than others.
Most of the common culprits seem to be wheat, corn,
dairy products, chicken, beef, eggs and soy. Pets
can develop allergies to a substance over time so
do not get surprised if your dog suddenly develops
them.
Our
dogs are exposed to foods that are made with these
ingredients, which may be the cause of allergic reactions.
So some food companies developed foods that had ingredients
that currently were not present in dog foods, like
venison, lamb and rice, fish and potato. Since dogs
had never eaten them before the chances of them developing
allergies to these ingredients were low.
Some
also argue that chemical preservatives & animal
by products being used in dog foods are causing these
allergies. While government officials say that there
is no solid proof that these ingredients may harm
our dogs, others still disagree.
For those argumentative minds, we can tell you that
are not alone. We are with you! Many dog owners now
have chosen the alternative of cooking for their dogs.
Some choose an all-raw diet and some prefer to cook
the meals.
Whichever
feeding way you prefer, we hope that you make your
decisions based on research and personal belief instead
of a commercial lullaby…
Happy
feeding!
