FLEA
ALLERGIES
Fleas
are very irritating to canines and some canines
develop severe flea bite allergies, like our Mundo
(flea allergy dermatitis "FAD"), due to a
sensitivity caused by the flea salivary secretions.
Ctenocephalides
felis, the cat flea, is the most common problem
for canines and felines. If left untreated fleas
can cause severe anemia and even death.
Fleas
also are responsible for infecting your canine and
feline with tapeworms. If you thought vacuuming
can get ride of some fleas think again! Only about
20 percent of the larvae might be removed when vacuuming
since they wrap themselves around the bottom strands
of carpeting.
Puppies
and kittens are very sensitive to flea products.
Use them sensibly and always read directions.
Never use canine products for your felines and never
use gardening pesticides on your pets! If in
doubt always contact your pet's veterinarian!
