What
is a Hot Spot and How To Care For It
"Hot
spots" are also known as "acute moist
pyoderma" which means that they are rapidly appearing,
oozing skin infections that either itch or create
an inflammatory response in that area.
In
cases of itching, your canine then rubs, licks or
chews the area and adds to the problem. These sores
can develop into severe problems shortly if not treated.
We
use mild ointments made with herbs and other botanical
and keep the area clean and dry all times. If you
use a wash cloth to clean the area, make sure to wash
your towels with hot water and soap and dry well.
Never
rub hard over the hot spots, if you need to apply
an ointment, gently tap over and around the hot spot.
If
problem persists, please consult your dog's veterinarian.
